The last time there was a Game 7 in the Western Conference Finals, it was 2002 and Kobe and Shaq’s Lakers were lining up against Chris Webber and his Kings. Fast forward to 2016, and NBA fans have witnessed one of the greatest series ever. This was a franchise changing series for both teams, and it had everything from superstar performances to controversy and dramas, not to mention some of the best basketball we have seen all season.
In the end, it was the defending champions who prevailed, pushing past OKC on the backs of huge performances from Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
But are we really surprised that the series went seven games after the Thunder jumped out to a 3-1 lead? After all, this Golden State team did achieve something that no-one ever believed was possible this season — breaking the Chicago Bulls long standing record of 72 wins in a season. They weren’t going to just roll over and be sent home that easily. Guys like Curry and Thompson thrive in these situations.
Their backs were against the wall, and the public writing them off was a catalyst to be sparked into action and do the nearly-impossible.
For this game we wanted to give our readers the experience of being inside the arena at a Game 7,so we had our cameras ready to capture the atmosphere, and reactions of a vibrant and raucous atmosphere.
Welcome to Game 7.
The NBA Finals will begin this Thursday as the Golden State Warriors will face the Cleveland Cavaliers at Oracle Arene in a rematch of the 2015 Finals.
Can the Warriors go back to back? or will the Cavs ruin their party?
