Why You Can’t Miss Christmas Day Basketball in 2015
It’s mid December and that means one thing, Christmas is coming! For basketball fans, one of the best gifts they will receive this year won’t be the new pair of socks from their mum, it’s the assortment of huge basketball games schedule to get them through the day thanks to the NBA. Every year we end up with a day stacked with with huge games, and this year is no exception. Today we are going to have a look at our five top things to look out for this Christmas Day.
One of the great things that has become a big part of the NBA’s Christmas Day lineup in the past few years has been the uniforms and the shoes that the players will be wearing on the court. After some pretty average looking designs hit the court last year, this year the NBA and Adidas have taken things to the next level! Running with a simple design featuring a classic font, this years uniforms look amazing and have already been a hit with fans who have snapped up their own jerseys via the team stores. With the player’s shoe designs starting to be leaked at the moment too, even if we end up with some lop sided games, at least the players will be looking awesome on the court.
Basketball fans have been waiting all season for this day. The NBA Finals rematch. The Warriors have been unstoppable so far this season breaking all sorts of records, while the Cavs have been quietly going about their business over in the east. This matchup will have a different feel to that of the Finals earlier this year with Cleveland getting key players in the form of Irving and Love back from injury, but will it be enough to stop the Warriors? The Curry vs LeBron battle will the intensified, and the fans in Oakland are sure to be vocal and remind the Cavs whose house they are in. This will be the game of the day, and fans everywhere are courting down to tipoff!
The other must see game on Christmas Day will be taking place in Oklahoma City where the Bulls will be rolling in town looking to ruin Thunder fans holidays. The most exciting aspect of this game is the player matchups. We have the established superstars of Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose squaring off, as well as their understudies Jimmy Butler and Russell Westbrook ready to battle. For both teams there has been a evolution forced by injuries where we have seen Butler and Westbrook take charge of their teams, and set the league on fire. Both outfits are off to a great start to the season holding down the third place in their respective conferences, and looking to establish themselves as a serious contender to compete come the playoffs. Tune in for some fast paced basketball, with some high scoring and a stack of dunks.
The Kobe Bryant farewell tour is well underway. We have seen teams in the east playing their respects to the All Star as he visits for the final time, but on December 25th Kobe will be making his final Christmas Day appearance. Coming up against the Clippers, this may not be much of a contest, but it will be work checking out to see Kobe hitting the court on this huge occasion for one last time.
The Bar has been set. This time last year Spencer Hawes, who was unable to play in the Clippers game due to injury, turned up to join his teammates on the bench wearing possibly one of the greatest suits the NBA has ever seen. It might not have been the most fashionable of looks, but he definitely nailed the theme. The questions is now, will anyone step up and take away the best suit title from Spencer in 2015?
We can’t wait for December 25th to roll around, and on behalf on basketball fans across the world, thank you Adam Silver for our gift this year!
