Celtics’ Rookie James Young Talks Signing To Jordan Brand [Video]
It’s every young hoopers’ dream to one day have a shoe endorsement deal if they’re lucky enough to go pro. If that company happens to be the one owned by the guy considered the greatest of all-time? Well, the thought of that could leave you speechless, right?
Boston Celtics’ rookie James Young was one of four members of the 2014 draft class signed by the iconic brand last summer (Jabari Parker, Tyler Ennis and Noah Vonleh were the others). At the time, he told Jay King of Masslive.com about the experience.
“It was crazy. You’ve got so many great guys signed with Jordan like that, so it’s just a big family. And they welcomed me to it,” he said. “I always looked up to (Michael) Jordan. I mean, everybody did. He’s a great player, one of the best players in the NBA. Once I got that opportunity to sign with Jordan, it was mind-blowing. It’s a blessing. It’s a great opportunity for me.”
We caught up with Young on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden to get his thoughts on being a part of the JB family now that it’s had time to sink in, what retros he’s picked up, what releases he’s looking forward to, and more.
