Chris Copeland Out 6-8 Weeks After Knee Surgery
A slight setback for Chris Copeland before he dons an Indiana Pacers uniform, the recently signed forward has undergone an arthroscopic surgery on his left knee but the team expects him to be back by the time training camp opens. Recovery time has been estimated at 6-8 weeks.
The surgery to remove a loose body was considered successful and Copeland is expected to recover in six to eight weeks.
Copeland was signed by the Pacers in July after averaging 8.7 points and 2.1 rebounds a game, and shooting 47.9 percent — 42.1 percent from three-point range — as a 28-year-old rookie with the Knicks last season. He played in Spain, German, Belgium and the NBA Developmental League before the Knicks took a chance on him.
Copeland, 6-foot-8, is expected to give the Pacers another front-line role player off the bench, and provide some of the energy — including hard fouls — they may miss following Tyler Hansbrough’s departure to Toronto.
