J.R. Smith Attempts To Untie Greg Monroe’s Shoes (VIDEO)
A warning from his head coach, and one from the league office, was not enough to deter mercurial Knicks' guard J.R. Smith from trying his shoe unlacing stunt again last night at Madison Square Garden. Smith made an attempt to untie Greg Monroe's sneakers at the free throw line during New York’s 89-85 win against the visiting Pistons. As you can see in the video, he was unsuccessful.
It's not known if Smith made the attempt in jest, or if he really tried the same trick twice.
Prior to the game at the Garden, coach Woodson said that kind of behavior from Smith was not appropriate.
"I mean, he shouldn't be doing stuff like that," Woodson said. "I'm going to talk to him a little more about it when I get in there. His focus should just be on playing basketball. That's what it's about and those are things you just don't do. You think you've seen it all and something creeps in."
Post-game Smith admitted the NBA had spoken to him about his Shawn Marion incident.
