Jason Kidd Spills Drink For Extra Timeout (VIDEO)
Jason Kidd has been criticized for his X's and O's, or lack thereof, during his time as Nets' head coach, but this move was quite shrewd. Kidd specifically told Tyshawn Taylor to hit him causing a break in play while the court was cleared of the spilled drink.
The Nets were down one-point to the visiting Lakers and had no timeouts left at the time. The break in play allowed Kidd and his staff to draw up a play.
After the game Kidd denied
he did it purposely, but video shows the coach mouthing the words, "hit me" to Taylor.
“The cup slipped out of my hand when I was getting Ty [out of the game],” Kidd said. “Sweaty palms … I was never good with the ball, so. In the heat of the battle, you’re trying to get guys in and out of the game, and the [Coke] fell out of my hand.”
Kidd should expect the league office to review this play.
